Recycled Content Materials

Recycled content materials
for The Farmhouse include products made from manufacturing and consumer waste such as paper, wood, glass, plastic bottles, grocery bags, and corrugated board. Using building products manufactured from these sources helps divert collected waste from landfills; saves harvesting of trees; and helps create markets for recyclables, which ultimately means cost savings for consumers buying recycled content products.

Recycled Content Materials were used both inside and outside The Farmhouse for walls, ceilings, and even exterior decking.

Trex is an excellent example of a high-quality and durable exterior decking product from recycled sources such as grocery bags, reclaimed pallet wrap, stretch film (dry cleaners bags) and waste wood from used pallets and furniture manufacture by-products. No trees are cut down to make this product.

Manufacture of Trex results in diversion of nearly 100 million pounds of recycled plastic from landfills each year. About half of all grocery bags consumers return to the store bin go into Trex decking. Trex is maintenance-free, a valuable quality since this means no sealants or paints are required. The decking simply weathers into a beautiful, natural finish. It resists insects, and is splinter free and is ideal in Colorado's dry, low humidity environment. Trex decks for The Farmhouse provide views to the mountains and surrounding open space. Trex works well in all types of climates and is a critical replacement to wood decking.
