Since the 1970's, Julee Herdt has worked on projects throughout the U.S. and in Europe including architectural projects with award-winning firms Morphosis Architects, Santa Monica, California, and Coop Himmelblau, Vienna, Austria. Her development of environmental building materials began with United States Department of Agriculture grants and cooperative agreements. Herdt helped found Gridcore Systems International for commercialization of engineered molded fiber technology as building materials. Gridcore is used throughout The Farmhouse.

Julee Herdt's building material research work is currently underway at the University of Colorado where she teaches Architecture Design Studio and Green Technology courses.


Steve Gates

Steve Gates is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado at Denver, College of Architecture and Planning where he completed award-winning design work. Gates recently established his own building design and development company, Steve Gates Design, located in Evergreen, Colorado.
In addition to The Farmhouse project, Steve Gates' current work includes residential development in the Colorado mountain towns of Central City and Steamboat Springs. Construction of these homes is a combination of new, recycled, and re-used materials.

Gates' professional background includes architectural projects in the office of Antoine Predock, Albuquerque, New Mexico and projects with architectural firms in Georgia, New Mexico, and Colorado.
